Almost exactly 15 years after my 2002 Miata’s build date (August 2001), she’s hit 100,000 miles. I bought the car in 2012 with 42k miles on the clock and I’ve brought it to 100k over the past four years primarily driving throughout Louisiana, Texas, and Colorado.
One of the first photos I took of my Miata back in 2012. I loved those 5-spoke alloy wheels, but at only 6.5", they weren’t very wide. And that wheel gap!
The Miata has treated me pretty well over the past few years. I’ve upgraded the suspension to Ohlins coilovers, the entire brake system to a 4-piston Wilwood setup, and the wheels to wider, lighter, shinier gold ones. I’ve picked up a hardtop and gone through many sets of sticky tires. Through it all, she’s never let me down. Here’s a list of non-wear items I have had to replace due to failure:
Cam angle position sensor - $35
That’s it. The factory clutch is starting to slip, but it’ll be fine for the rest of this season. 100k miles of clutch use with many autocross launches is totally acceptable by me.
Next up: Exocet? Exocet. In due time.

Welcome to 6 figures :) May you reach 200000 without catastrophe!
Side note: If you haven’t upgraded your radiator yet, mine started leaking at the top at 171000km. That’s like, what, 110k miles?
Also, my 2002 runs 500rpm higher at the same speed. I’m kinda scared now.

Woo hoo! 100k is a good one to reach. Im hoping 300k feels equally awesome.

Thanks! Radiator will likely be replaced with the clutch for peace of mind. Is yours a 5-speed or a 6-speed? Mine’s a 6, so that might make the difference in RPM.

I love that you painted the hard top the same tan color as the soft top.
Reaching miles stones like that is alway fun. In about 800 miles we will have put 20,000 miles on our Fit, and a mouth ago the odo hit 55,555.

300k is a big number. My 323 GTX is getting within spitting distance of 200k.

Mine is 5. I realized after posting that you probably have the torsen, and I’ve got the open diff. I believe the final drive on the 5 and 6 speeds are the same, all other things equal.

Thanks, the plastidip color is called Vintage Gold. I picked up the gold wheels about 9 months after dipping the hardtop. There is a bit of plastidip peeling on the leading edge of the hardtop, so if I get it dipped again I’ll try to match the wheels.

Ah, yep the Torsen is most excellent. :)

Nice. I'm about to hit 100k too. The only difference is my 3 is 2 years old

It’s really just a matter of time at this point. Very eager to shed a lot of weight.

That...is a lot of driving.

Sweet, I’m not that far behind in hitting 100k! I estimate I’ll hit it by mid-October given my commuting.
